Overview
A Big Five lodge in the Eastern Cape is seeking a technically skilled Workshop Manager to oversee the vehicle workshop and fleet. This role requires a hands‑on individual with strong mechanical knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage a small team. The lodge values community upliftment and seeks a candidate who aligns with this ethos.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working on diesel engines
- Experience working on Toyota vehicles
- Highly organised and meticulous with tools, stock, and record‑keeping
- Excellent communication skills
Desired Requirements
- Experience in a lodge or game reserve workshop environment
- Experience with heavy machinery (e.g., tractors)
- Experience managing a fleet of vehicles
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all workshop operations and workflow
- Manage the lodge’s fleet of game viewers and transport vehicles
- Ensure weekly vehicle checks are completed and recorded accurately
- Proactively address all vehicle maintenance issues
- Assist with vehicle recoveries on the reserve and access roads
- Manage procurement of vehicle parts and repairs
- Maintain accurate stock records for vehicle parts
- Lead and supervise a small workshop team
- Work closely with lodge management to ensure optimal vehicle performance
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist with town trips when required
- Support lodge and reserve teams with general workshop and maintenance tasks
